Them danged ol' hills...

I have noticed lately that MANY of my readers are struggling with one thing or another. From day to day struggles to emotional eating. Along with many other reasons. I wanted to share with them and you what gets me through those difficult days.

I love this song and what it represents. Living in Utah where I have a mountain in my back yard is a constant reminder.

Music is my love and I get great comfort in listening to songs. This is just 1 of many. I hope it helps you too.

Here are the lyrics:

Mountains by Lonestar

Lucinda Jones workin' at the IHOP:
Ten years worth of bacon, eggs an' tears
She's waited on every creed an' color,
While waitin' on this day to get here
Graveyard shifts, two bit tips,
Makin' every quarter count,
Was worth it all to see her son,
In that cap an' gown

There are times in life when you gotta crawl,
Lose your grip, trip an' fall
When you can't lean on no-one else:
That's when you find yourself
I've been around and I've noticed that
Walkin's easy when the road is flat
Them danged ol' hills'll get you every time
Yeah the good Lord gave us mountains,
So we could learn how to climb

Bobby, Bobby Dunn came back from the war
Lost his leg but they couldn't take his will
Hell bent to run in that local marathon
He trained through the endless pain an' pills
It hurt so bad that sometimes
He just had to cry
He didn't stop until he crossed
That finish line

There are times in life when you gotta crawl
Lose your grip trip an' fall
When you can't lean on no one else
That's when you find yourself
I've been around and I've noticed that
Walkin's easy when the road is flat
Them danged ol' hills'll get you every time
Yeah the good Lord gave us mountains
So we could learn how to climb

This world ain't fair
It can knock you on your butt
You can just lie there
Or you can get back up
You gotta get back up

There are times in life when you gotta crawl
Lose your grip, trip an' fall
When you can't lean on no one else
That's when you find yourself
I've been around and I've noticed that
Walkin's easy when the road is flat
Them danged ol' hills'll get you every time
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains
The good Lord gave us mountain
So we could learn how to climb
Yeah, oh

Just know I am here for you and I wish you well. Love ya,

  1. Great song! That lead singer is kinda cute too!! (but not cuter than my man, of course). I sure miss those Utah Mountains. Mount Timpanogos is "my" mountain. That mountain was the view at the end of my street growing up. :)

  2. Oh, I've heard that song before! I like it a lot!! Thanks for the reminder that I shouldn't be so whiny. At least I don't work at IHOP with all of those tempting pancakes and waffles. Yet.

    Hug, Smile, Climb.
